SGPA & CGPA Calculator: Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about SGPA, CGPA, data privacy, and how to use our calculator

SGPA is the credit-weighted average of your grade points for one semester — subjects with more credit hours count for more. The calculator applies your own university's grade-point scale automatically. Our guide "How to calculate SGPA and CGPA in Nepal" walks through the formula with a full worked example.

Yes. You can use the TU university mode to calculate TU SGPA semester-wise, including semester 3. Add the exact subjects and credits for your TU BCT semester and the calculator computes SGPA and cumulative CGPA automatically.

Yes. The calculator supports Kathmandu University grading and is suitable for KU engineering students. You can track each semester and view both SGPA and overall CGPA in one place.

Yes. Pokhara University is shown as PU on this site for consistent naming across links and titles.

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is your GPA for a single semester. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is your overall GPA across all completed semesters. CGPA is calculated by taking the weighted average of all semesters: CGPA = Σ(SGPA × Semester Credits) ÷ Total Credits across all semesters.

Yes, absolutely. All your GPA data is stored locally in your browser using browser localStorage. We do NOT send your data to any server. Your grades, subjects, and personal information remain completely private on your device. You maintain full control over your data.

Yes, you can export your grades in two formats: (1) CSV format - useful for backup, sharing, or importing on another device, and (2) PDF format - create professional reports with your student name. These files are downloaded directly to your device and are not stored on our servers.

Yes, if you have a CSV file from a previous export or another source, you can import it back into the calculator. Simply use the Import CSV option on the calculator page. The calculator will parse your data and populate the semesters and subjects automatically.

On mobile, swipe left on a subject row to reveal the delete action. On desktop and larger screens, use the trash icon beside each subject.

If you clear your browser cache or localStorage, your data may be lost. To prevent this, regularly export your grades as CSV or PDF. You can then re-import the CSV file anytime to restore your data. Consider periodic backups as best practice.

We support 4 major universities in Nepal: Pokhara University, Tribhuvan University (2024 curriculum), Kathmandu University, and Purbanchal University (2024 curriculum). Each university has its own accurate grading system and multiple engineering programs including BE Software Engineering, BE Computer Engineering, BE Civil Engineering, BE Information Technology, and more.

Yes, absolutely. After generating a curriculum, you can edit any subject name, credit hours, or grades. You can also add or delete subjects as needed. This gives you full flexibility to match your actual course load.

Each university has its own grading scale. Pokhara University uses letter grades A through D and F (e.g. A=4.0 down to D=1.0, plus C-, D+, etc.), while Tribhuvan, Kathmandu, and Purbanchal use A+ to F scales with different grade-point values. The calculator applies the correct table for the university you select. For example, Purbanchal's C+ is 1.6 grade points, while Pokhara's C+ is 2.3.

Use the Compare feature to generate an anonymous shareable link. Share this link with peers to see side-by-side CGPA trend comparisons. This helps you understand your academic performance relative to others without revealing personal identity.

Yes, gpaNepal is fully responsive and works seamlessly on mobile devices, tablets, and desktops. All features are available on mobile, making it easy to track your GPA on the go.

Yes, you can export your results as a PDF report that includes your name, all semesters with subjects and grades, SGPA for each semester, and your overall CGPA. This report can be saved or printed for your records.
